How to Choose Interior Colors that Match Your Style

I’m painting a bedroom in my house and I chose a nice brown for the walls. The carpet is just off white, the side boards are white and it has a vaulted ceiling which is also white. I want to have natural woods for the furniture and am trying to decide what colors to put in the room upholstery wise.

I found a nice article on it, this is it:

How to Choose Interior Colors that Match Your Style.

This is what it says about brown:

BROWN: Depending on your style, brown can be deep like Espresso coffee or muted like camel tan. Browns give a feel of security, and strength.  If your styling is for sophistication and subtlety, brown is for you.  Use brown in combination with pastel colors for a modern compliment in your interiors.  Popular in décor these days are brown paired with pink, light blue, sage green, and light yellow.”

I want it to have a living room/bedroom vibe like a studio apartment. So I am putting a futon in along with a bookshelf, coffee table, TV stand with an LCD TV that will double as a computer monitor for a laptop.

The TV stand will have an enclosed space for the WIFI hub and battery backup (I can’t be without my internet.)

I like the idea of sage green for the Futon Mat and green pastels for accent pillows. I’d love to see what Designer Upholstery Fabric will fit the bill!

Designer Upholstery Fabric

I recently helped a friend close down his family fabric store. Why? Because everyone was buying their designer upholstery fabric online. The only way he could make any money was to sell cheaper than wholesale. He got out of the business. I decided to look into fabrics online and see what there was. I feel sorry for his family and their business but you change with the times or you go under. It’s always been that way.

I am going to find out what happened to his business by looking for the best places to buy designer upholstery fabric. I’ll look for different types of fabric like chenille upholstery fabric, velvet upholstery fabric and embroidered silk fabric. Maybe I can find some lessons that people can take with them, whether they are small fabric stores trying to get by or shoppers looking for the best deals.

People don’t sew anymore. Those that do go to websites to buy what they need. The get samples sent to them free of charge and can choose from a huge amount of styles and materials. The only thing that really surprises me is that they have become comfortable with the idea of waiting for samples that may not fit their needs. At least when people went to my friends store they could take their choices and walk around the store looking for what they want.
